TEXT: GALATIANS 4:1, LUKE 15:11-31, EXODUS 18:13-23

INTRODUCTION: IF you are born in Africa and particularly to a poor or an average class family you will understand what it means to grow-up as a child. With due respect this does not include over-pampered children. Parents in our race include among their responsibilities the training of children to carry responsibilities. However, as long as the children are babies, they have no option other than waiting. And once the child grows up im to every level he or she must be introduced to his or her responsibility of that level. This could be arranging the house, disposing trash into any close by trash container, fetching water, etc. responsibility is having a sense of duty. The aim of this sermon is to explain the time in the stages of growth of a child of God WHEN TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY, WHY THEY MUST BE RESPONSIBLE AND HOW TO BE RESPONSIBLE IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD.

  1. WHEN IS THE TIME FOR RESPONSIBILITY?
  1. When a child of God comes to his senses/grows (reasoning Luke 15:17, Matthew 26:69-75)
  2. When a child of God is giving a charge (Exodus 18:17, 1Kings 2:1)
  3. When the child of God compelled by circumstances (Joshua 1:1-5)
  1. WHY MUST A CHILD OF GOD TAKE RESPONSIBILITIES?
  1. It is a sin to be irresponsible as a child of God (James 4:17, 1 Timothy 5:8)
  2. It is profitable for your future because everyone must carry his or her load (Proverbs 22:6, Galatians 6:5)
  3. It is not a service for any man but for God (Colossians 3:23, Hebrews 11:6)
  4. You will be recommended for a greater responsibility and reward (Luke 16:10, Luke 12:48)
  5. Every man must give account of himself (Romans 14:12)
  1. HOW TO BESPONSIBLE IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD
  1. Repent/come back to your senses (Luke 15:17)
  1. Accept responsibilities (1Kings 2:1, John 21:15-18)
  1. Expect nothing from man in return for your responsibilities (Genesis 15:1, Hebrews 11:6)
  2. Avoid eye service and unusual praises (John 5:41, John 12:43)
  3. Dare to continue growing (Colossians 2:6-7)

Conclusion: it is not enough to be born again and attend all services for this is only God at the beginning stage. But as time comes, every child of God ought to begin to perform his or her duty to God. as a father respects his children to grow and take upon them some responsibilities; so also does God wants us to take responsibilities in his kingdom.
