INTRODUCTION: can you account for how God made the whole world and everything in it? Yes he made all things by His spoken words. His spoken words have powers to do and to undo. The Bible says we are made in God’s image and likeness. Does that mean we have powerful words like God too? Yes. This is what this sermon is all about. The aim of this sermon is to reveal to us the power in the words which we carelessly speak daily and how great we could become by the words of our mouth if only we replace them with the words of God.
- The words of God/Jesus are spirits and life: John 6:63
- Spirit gives life Genesis 2:7, John 19:30
- Spirit is alive, powerful and active Hebrews 4:12
These therefore mean that whenever Jesus speaks, He releases spirits that are alive and powerful to give life.
- Satan’s words are directly the opposite of God’s words.
They are spirit, deception and death Genesis 3:4-5
- Our words are spirits but not life or Death. They become either of them by our choice: Proverbs 18:21
Conclusion: whatever we speak out of our mouth takes a form and lives with us. This is why we must be careful of what we speak. To achieve success in this, we are to fill ourselves in the Holy Spirit and the knowledge of the word of God. This is the mystery behind faith that works.
